growing senior population which is sure to increasingly expand
in the future. This results in an ever growing supply of senior
communities that aim to fill the senior housing need. Metro
Atlanta has the greatest selection of senior communities due
in part to it's large population size.
Del Webb has several very nice Active Adult living communities
around Atlanta, such as its Sun City Peachtree in Griffin
and the wonderful Deaton Creek up I-85 and a short distance
from Chateau Elan. Deaton Creek is a 55+ active adult community
which has a wonderful 35,000 square feet activity center that
offers a multitude of amenities.
For the senior who wants to retire to
a state with plenty of learning opportunities, Georgia fits
the bill. If you’re 62 years of age and older, you can
enroll in college courses for credit or auditing (take the
class without “registering” for it) for free.
You only have to pay the supplies, textbooks, and/or lab fees
for the course. The only stipulation beyond that is you can’t
enroll for free into law, dental, or medical school but almost
anything else is available.
Georgia is also full of natural beauty.
It has four distinct seasons that aren’t extreme in
nature. During the fall in Northern Georgia, you can visit
some of the best beautiful fall foliage in the United States.
No matter what you enjoy outdoors, Georgia has it available

Georgia is fortunate to have the North Georgia

The Council provides leadership to the Coalition of Advocates

Gainesville GA. - This historic city has
been top rated for retirement by several sources. It has
a interesting downtown and is located on Lake Lanier and
also close to the Northeast Georgia Mountains and yet only
about 50 miles northeast of Atlanta GA. Plenty of shopping

for retirees. Gainesville is the largest of six cities in
Hall County which has a population of 165,771. Gainesville
